STEVEN L. BOYD is an accomplished corporate leader and experienced corporate director with over 35 years of diverse management, executive leadership, and governance experience. Since 2022 Steven has served on the Board of Directors of Sonoco Products Company (NYSE:SON), a global designer, developer and manufacturer of highly engineered and sustainable packaging, with annual revenue of approximately $7 billion. He is a member of the Audit Committee and the Employee and Public Responsibility Committee.

Steven has served on the boards of The Justin Tuck Rush for Literacy, The Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club, The New York City Eagle Academy for Boys, The John Starks Foundation, The Community Culinary School of Charlotte and is Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Johnson C. Smith University.

Steven is a native of Buffalo, New York and graduated from Johnson C. Smith University in 1979 with BA degree in Political Science. Steven began his professional career while still an undergraduate working full time with Southern Bell for the last three years at JCSU. Upon graduation, Steven began his postgraduate journey as a sales representative with the Dial Corporation. After 7 years and reaching the position of District Manager, Steven was recruited to Coca-Cola-Foods, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Coca-Cola Company. His rapid advancement through Coke Foods concluded with his promotion to Vice President of the Foodservice Division and appointment as a director of the company. Among his many accomplishments while at Coke Foods, Steven led the strategic team responsible for the rebranding of the company from Coca-Cola Foods to The Minute Maid Company.

Upon completion of the rebranding, Steven led the integration of the Food Service Division of The Minute Maid Company into the Fountain Division of Coke USA and assumed the role of Business Integration Manager for The Coca- Cola Company. Stevens 25-year career with the Coke System included 16 promotions and 12 relocations concluded with his assignment as Vice President of Sales and Marketing for the Northeast Region, the largest business unit in North America. He completed his corporate career as Vice President of Sales and Marketing, North America Business Unit for the global ingredient company, Tate & Lyle. With just under 35 years as a distinguished himself as a performance driven, results oriented, business leader capable of authentic, and collaborative business leader with an impressive record of success across elite global CPG companies, Steven has challenging sales and profit and operational objectives via strategy, brand development, operational excellence, and system alignment.  In 2014, Steven retired from Corporate America.  He is an avid golfer and proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. He is married to his college sweetheart, Dee Boyd. Together they have 2 children Steven (wife Peggy) and Samantha and one granddaughter Skye.

He counts his selection as Commencement Speaker for the graduating class of 2001 at Johnson C. Smith as one of his most cherished honors.
